Lashing straps must be selected and used based on the required holding capacity, the manner of use and the type of load to be  to hold.

The size, shape and weight of the load as well as the intended method of use, the conditions of transport and the type of load will affect  the choice.
For reasons of stability  the self-supporting  unitized loads must be secured with at least one pair of straps for  the mooring  under friction and with two pairs of straps for lashing diagonally.
